Subject Facilitating Brokerage Volume Adjustments
Effective Date 06/20/01
Notice Number CM#0150

On occasion, brokers will submit to clearing member firms a Brokerage Volume Adjustment Form to properly credit them for brokerage earned that was erroneously credited to another broker.

This discrepancy can occur because of miss-clears resulting from keypunch errors or the clearing systems Tiered-Match process, which force match trades at final reconciliation. Firms can verify tired match information on their Daily Tiered Match Summary report (XTM055R1).

Member Firm ATOM Personnel have the responsibility of making the necessary adjustments in the ATOM system to reflect accurate brokerage earned for the correct filling broker.

This can be completed in the Payment/Brokerage Fee Adjustment Inquiry/Update Screen, selection number 3 from the main menu in the ATOM system, using the following instructions:

  • Enter A in the ACTION field
  • Enter the three letter broker symbol in the BROKER CODE field
  • Enter Fee in the PAY/FEE/TAX field
  • Enter CR (for credit) or DR (for debit) in the CR/DR field
  • Enter amount in the DOLLAR AMOUNT field
  • Enter Transaction date in the XFR DATE field
  • Enter any comments, if applicable, in the COMMENTS field
  • Press the Enter key

Note: All Brokerage Fee Adjustments that are entered should be the result of a discussion between the broker and the firm.
